Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) is Canada's national standard for measuring English language proficiency. Immigration programs require minimum CLB levels: Express Entry needs CLB 7+, while other programs may accept CLB 4-5.
For Express Entry: CLB 7 minimum (CLB 9+ recommended for competitive scores). For Canadian Experience Class: CLB 7 (NOC 0, A) or CLB 5 (NOC B). For Federal Skilled Trades: CLB 5 (speaking/listening), CLB 4 (reading/writing).
Focus on your weakest skill first - your overall CLB is determined by your lowest score. Practice daily with authentic materials. Consider retaking the test if you're 1-2 points away from the next CLB level.
